Public bug reported: I previously had Ubuntu 11.04 installed and in working order but due to other circumstances, I needed to perform a fresh install of the system. Since then, my Andrea headset has been nothing but trouble and gives a very consistent popping sound.
If I change the sound output to a different source, my mileage varies even more. With "Internal Audio Analog Stereo", the sound is extremely quiet even at 150% volume (so much so that I believed it was non-existent. With "Juniper HDMI Audio...", the sound is rushed, as though someone where holding down a 'fast forward' button. With "Andrea PureAudio...", the sound is a constant popping sound and I see the mute indicator on the device flash on and off. I would expect that each device would output audio at a better quality than this. As I review the output from apport, it looks like this may be a duplicate of bug# 741825 because it does contain this: ATI [1002:4383] (rev 40) Within that report, one of the users was asked to file a separate report and then have that separate report reviewed for confirmation of a duplicate. My apologies if I have made extra work for someone by doing the same. I have previously followed the detailed walk-through provided by the Ubuntu community for this issue. Please let me know if there is any further information I can provide.
