Public bug reported:
Appears related to bug #761901
Current Kernel: Ubuntu 2.6.38-11.48-generic
Symptom: Contacting remote websites takes multiple minutes to load
complete pages (even more if remotely-linked objects exist embedded in
the given page). Issue applies regardless of which of the two installed
browsers are employed (Firefox / Chrome). Online Speed Tests rate
connection throughput at 25 MbU / 5 MbD. Doesn't appear to affect Local
Network operations (SSH to clients -using winbind to discover IPs- is
smooth).
All other Linux/Ubuntu installations on the Local Network are of type
i386 and appear unaffected. Unfortunately, no additional AMD64 system
to test against...
Attempted Solutions:
* Static DNS server address assignment to 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 within
Network-Manager (vs. DHCP assignment from ISP) + Non-effective remedy
* IPv6 has been disabled in both SYSCTL and Firefox. + Marginal to
Non-effective remedy
- Browsing Status Messages prior to IPv6 disable indicated: 10+ sec. hang on
HOST LOOKUP and again on SENDING REQUEST
- Browsing Status Messages following IPv6 disable indicate: 2-4 sec. hang on
HOST LOOKUP and 10+ sec. hang on SENDING REQUEST
* All Routing / Connection Hardware has been reset and programmed values have
been verified + Non-effective remedy
