I have just purchased a HP Proliant Microserver N36L. I used unetbootin to create a bootable USB install drive, and successfully installed Ubuntu Server 11.04 x64 on it with no problems at all. This is the 1.3ghz AMD server that ships with 1GB RAM and 250GB drive. My machine has 4GB of RAM.
I had less luck with 10.04LTS (my preferred choice). Initially, by booting from the USB install drive the installer failed to find the install media. By burning the ISO to the USB stick as well, I was able to symlink /dev/sr0 to the iso, and then mount the /dev/sr0 to /cdrom and continue installing that way. However, when it came to select and install packages the installer complained about not being able to find package lists. 11.04 is working fine anyway here on that hardware. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/815852 Title: Installing ubuntu server on HP Proliant Microserver fails with LVM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/815852/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
