Been having this problem recently as well. Sometimes come in to work to find dbus using 100% and the system tray area looking as if it was stopped halfway through a draw (corrupted looking icons). As per above I killed /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kpackagekitsmarticon and everything goes back to normal. Haven't suffered the same problem with remounting samba shares as Jenna (#18) mentioned above.
