Confirmed; flashplugin dlopen()s libcurl.so.4, and if it's absent,
npviewer.bin appears to spin indefinitely, eating 100% CPU. The package
needs to have a dependency on libcurl added.
(This becomes particularly important for multiarch installation on
amd64, where libcurl4:i386 won't be installed normally.)
