This issue is resolved for the upcoming oneiric release by transitioning
gdk-pixbuf to use multiarch paths instead of the biarch lib32 path.
When you upgrade to oneiric, you should install libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0:i386
to get the desired behavior.
If all of the 32-bit libraries required by your application are
multiarch-ready, you should be able to directly install the i386 version
of the package and uninstall ia32-libs altogether.
