This issue also happens on Ubuntu 11.04 in live mode, especially when the 
installation is aborted, or when the live session is used over a longer time 
(say >30min). F.e. when clicking on a menu, it's shown for a split second, 
after which the entire menu pane becomes black. Hovering an option also shows 
it for a split second before it getting black again. Makes it absolutely 
unusable. Even directly after booting, when everything seems to be painted 
correctly, buttons are shown as partly black.
Apart from this issue, maybe it's an idea (both for Linux Mint and Ubuntu) to 
seperate the Live mode and the installation (so that you can run the 
installation directly, without first booting into a live session) by default.
