Hi, may I also confirm that after installing VLC 0.8.6 under feisty 64-bit
alternate I get a similar symptom:
able to "Open with other application" if the media file is local AND has been
opened at least once in VLC.
Unable to "Open with other application" from network share (edgy-server running
samba, therefore not a windows server).
VLC is not listed under "Open with" list if you attempt to "send" a file to VLC
from a network share.
