Thanks for the workaround Marius. I can now test Compiz plugins in the
Guest account.

BTW, it was never necessary to restart, re-logging in did the trick.

I also find that the 'Applications' and 'Files & Folders' launcher items
disappear. Super+A and Super+F also fail to bring up Dash. However,
these can be accessed by clicking the Ubuntu logo or pressing Super to
bring up Dash, then selecting 'More Apps' or 'Find Files'.

marcosvega, that won't be very helpful if the Compiz Fusion icon itself
disappears.
