Printing to a file seems to work OK. I'm not at my printer right now so
I can't tell about printing to a printer. I'll test that next week.

I attached the apt-cache policy output. You probably meant
"libpoppler*".

I have created my filesystem in the standard xubuntu (10.10) installation.
The home directory is in a separate partition and the partition type is ext4.
As far as I remember the home directory may be somehow crypted.

I got the following apparmor messages after trying to print from the print 
preview window
to a file:
