It's unfortunate that strftime doesn't support the correct formatters…
I can change the default xubuntu settings, but %c doesn't seem very satisfying
(it includes too many things that are redundant with the displayed clock):
$ date +'%A %d %B %Y/%V'
Wednesday 17 August 2011/33
$ date +'%c'
Wed 17 Aug 2011 10:33:44 PM CEST
$ date +'%x'
08/17/2011
and I can't find any other formatter that could do what you want… Any
idea?
