This makes Unity2d annoying to use if you have Chromium as almost every alt-tab triggers the bug. I've (hopefully temporarily) switched to an xfce session for now. Could this get a higher prio, the metacity workaround solved the issue, without a clear downside - after all the other WMs do not do the same check.
