Default seemed to be Ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) First time, Sorry for missing that
one.
If "Nautilus-share" is reached by both
Places > Open-"drive or folder" > Edit > Sharing options > Share Folder >
Create Share
and
Applications > Ubuntu Software Center > Provided by Ubuntu > Samba > Install
Then it alone is the problem. However since the number of files not found
seems to vary, can another package be involved or at least the call be
different?

I lost the error message from one of the install failures. I distinctly
remember two 404 errors with one of them and one 404 error with the
other.

** Description changed:

Ubuntu 11.04 - the Natty Narwhal - released in April 2011
+ Work around needed because this keeps any one with windows machines from
accessing them from an Ubuntu machine.

The package seems to be the “nautilus-share” source package which
  downloads and installs samba.

However, two of the packages are not located in the samba site and a 404
error is received. Executing this package results in the network
connection [drivers?] being rendered unusable and the network connection
  disconnected,

After searching it would return “you are not connected”
I had to reboot from the dvd and re-run install. I then selected repair. And
after another boot was able to get on line to report the problem.
