Public bug reported: Ubuntu Release: 11.04 Claws-Mail version: 3.7.8-1ubuntu4
Expected: Email message sent to my mailbox with base64 encoding displayed as legible ASCII. Specifically: "I would have called, but I lost your number when I switched phones." Observed: Email message with base64 encoding displayed as illegible ASCII noise. Specifically: "V¦]=çt’v÷VÆB†fR6ÆÆVBÂ'WB’Æ÷7B–÷W"çVÖ&W"v†Vâ’7v—F6†VB†öæW2â" Steps to reproduce: - Ask a friend using a smartphone/ cel-network palmtop computer (ie. RIM Blackberry) to send you an email. - Some sites using MS Outlook + MS Exchange will also use Content-Transfer-Encoding base64, esp. sites that automatically attach vcards to outgoing mail. - Use Claws-Mail to check message that arrives. Further information: Developers claim a similar problem with uudecoding on systems using unsigned *char has been fixed upstream in version 3.7.9 (see http://www.thewildbeast.co.uk/claws-mail/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2331 ). Unconfirmed if this solves the problem described in this report.
