Hi Steve,
This looks a lot like our well-known 'False GPU bug', although it
typically occurs during boot not shutdown, and doesn't tend to hang the
system, so this is an unusual case. Thanks for reporting it.
I think the message ' Sorry, the program "apport-gpu-error-intel.py"
closed unexpectly ... ' is inaccurate because it's automatically
generated; I think it should say ' Sorry, the X server hung unexpectly
... '
