Hi, I just retested this with the Oneiric image from 20110823. Tests were done with nVidia Corporation GT218 [NVS 2100M] (rev a2) graphics on a Toshiba Tecra S11.
Behavior is now improved and I can't reproduce the original problem. External screen works fine with no compiz crashes, I see a bit of corruption on the unused portions of the screen but only when rotating the external display. Resolution changes work as expected on both external and internal displays.
