Hi, I just retested this with the Oneiric image from 20110823. Tests were done with ATI Technologies Inc NI Seymour [AMD Radeon HD 6470M] graphics on a Toshiba Tecra R850.
Behavior is now improved and I can't reproduce the original problem. External screen works fine with no compiz crashes, I see a bit of corruption on the unused portions of the screen when rotating any of the displays, however if they are both horizontal things look good. Resolution changes work as expected on both external and internal displays.
