Reporting back:
- I also noticed this corruption with the notes overlay in evince.
- fglrx seems not to work with Unity at all.
- After a recent update, the problem disappeared.
So the problem seems to be solved for me, and probably it was related to
the graphics driver instead of onboard itself.
