Seeing as to how this is now the primary bug I'll document here.
Our tests using gstreamer use gconf{audio, video}sink in the gst pipeline
to fetch the default configured audio and video sinks. At some point
during the Oneiric development cycle, the required shared library that
implements these sinks was removed from gstreamer0.10-plugins-good and
put into gstreamer0.10-gconf, however this wasn't being included in the
default installation.
This has, however, been fixed, and gstreamer0.10-gconf is a depends: for
gnome-media. This means that checkbox tests are again working out of the
box, yay! And it also appears like at least for Oneiric, the gconf
elements will still be around, so it won't be necessary yet to migrate
to gsettings elements.
To test:
cd /usr/share/checkbox/scripts
./gst_pipeline_test -t 2 'videotestsrc ! ffmpegcolorspace ! gconfvideosink'
This is working on the Oneiric image from 20110823.
I'll set this to Fix Released rather than Invalid (for a bug fixed by an
update), as in this case we did know the root cause of the problem.

** Changed in: checkbox (Ubuntu)
