yea this really sucks! I dont know the code too well in this department, but in my head it would be nice if there was an api in aptdaemon for querying if there had been an _non_ aptdaemon aware package change made, say, from the cmd line or some non aptdaemon friendly gui app. Depending on the outcome of the query, we update the axi. Or even better there is a daemon that maintains the axi with surgical precision... ?
