Public bug reported:

My Toshiba Satellite A70 would go to sleep when my laptop is unplugged.
It would not go to sleep when I close the laptop lid.

>From bug #146424 I was able to find the workaround of changing the
activity on lid-close on battery from "Suspend" to "Blank Screen" which
prevent sleeping when unplugged, but the system now (and never has)
slept when I close the lid.

acpi_listen sees the following:
 -------------------
On lid close:
button/lid LID 00000080 00000003
(no event on lid open)

On unplugging:
ac_adapter ACAD 00000001 00000000
battery BAT1 00000080 00000001

On plugging in.
ac_adapter ACAD 00000000 00000001
battery BAT1 00000080 00000001

---------------------

So, it seems to see the events properly, but responds to them improperly

samuel@ssatellite-A70:/etc/acpi$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 11.04
Release: 11.04

samuel@ssatellite-A70:/etc/acpi$ dpkg-query -l acpi-support gnome-power-manager
.....
ii acpi-support 0.138 scripts for handling many ACPI events
ii gnome-power-ma 2.32.0-2ubuntu power management tool for the GNOME desktop

I'm using the ubuntu-classic desktop, and this was done as a fresh
install from the 11.04 DVD and now has all current updates.

** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
