@Alberto; thank you for your answer. I had already followed the suggestion in that post and installed the driver. I then run nvidia-xconfig to create a new xorg.conf (I had previously vesa driver). But as I told you nvidia-settings doesn't "see" the driver installed. And apparently glx is not enabled, according to glxinfo.
