Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libgl1-mesa

On feisty and using the open-source ati driver the blender interface (all
versions i've tried except static_2.42) has some issues in drawing some of it's
lines. That wouldn't be much of a problem if it didn't affect the selection
tools. The selection tools have this thin-dashed-line border which on my
display leaves traces all over the drawing area. (it has nothing to do with the
known swcursor issue blender has i assure you).
Here is the output on the command-line (open blender - try a lasso tool
selection - close blender):

guessing 'blender-bin' == '/usr/bin/blender-bin'
Compiled with Python version 2.4.
Checking for installed Python... got it!

Blender quit

[The latest warning (Software fallback:ctx->RenderMode != GL_RENDER) is
the one that pops up when i am using the lasso]

The problem did not occur with older versions of the ati driver (feisty uses
6.5.2) on dapper or edgy. Debian etch which uses version 6.5.1 doesn't have any
problem neither. It might look like a minor bug, but it makes blender unusable
on feisty and for lots of us this is like having no GIMP, or Firefox on the
distro. Is there a way to use the older 6.5.1 library istead so that i can
Blend on Feisty?
[the static versions worked because they disable hw acceleration all together]
[before you ask: the bug is reproducible on three of my pc's with different ati
gpus (R9000,FireGL X2,rad Mob. X600)]
