Joaquin: I was curious, and looked into this for you. Indeed, you are correct; there is presently no way to close an application via Multi- Touch gestures using the out of the box configuration.

On a separate tack, I suspect, that in the long run, Quit/Close is hopefully not something that you need to actively do; the higher-level layers of the operating system and applications perhaps can manage themselves.
