Mika, the short name is the username of the user - it's a short word
used to uniquely identify the user. It has a limited set of characters
allowed, baically a-z, 0-9 and _ or -. (i.e. no spaces or non-latin
characters). This is entered at user creation time, see the User
Accounts dialog (click unlock then +).

It doesn't seem appropriate to show the username as it's a technical
detail that normal users never see.
