Steps to reproduce:
1. Connect a handspring treo 180 via the usb cable to a machine
2. Press the 'hotsync' button on the cable
3. run 'ls -l /dev/pilot'
Expected result:
/dev/pilot should be symlinked to something like /dev/ttyUSB1
Actual result:
/dev/pilot has not been created
