I have just upgraded from Kubuntu Edgy to Kubuntu Feisty. In Edgy,
hibernate worked and on resume I would be greeted with a locked screen,
then all of my applications in the same state I left them in. In
Feisty, when I select "hibernate" from the K menu, the screensaver
starts, then freezes, then the computer powers off. When I power the
computer back on, I get the Kubuntu splash screen, then a KDM window.
On logging in, many of my applications (firefox, oo.org) resume as if
from a crash. I'm not even sure what logs are relevant, but dmesg has
sections like the following:
