That was an "early" Ubuntu pre-beta1 iso (probably 2 or 3 rebuilds prior
to the actual beta1), but I checked a fresh install of the Lubuntu Beta
1 and even it shows this line in lxdm.log:
Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.24-29-server i686 Ubuntu
I don't know what that means, it's far beyond my tech level ;^)
I did however try installing only the package lxdm in Ubuntu Oneiric
Beta 1, selecting lxdm as the default display manager, and Ubuntu does
still boot so I'm marking this invalid.
I expect what happened was that I typically use 1360x768 resolution in
Ubuntu but 1280x720 in Lubuntu and xrandr (or arandr) got mad at me.
Here again that exceeds my tech level.
To be honest I'd highly recommend that users NOT mix entire DE's. It
just gets sloppy.
