Public bug reported:

Everything that is typed into the search bar gets appended to the
search, not inserted at the cursor position.

How to reproduce:
1. Press the Super key to open the search bar.
2. Type 'fox'.
3. Press left arrow three times to put the cursor in the beginning of the text.
4. Type 'fire'.

Expected results:
'firefox'

Actual results:
'foxfire', with cursor after 'foxf'.
