You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: nautilus
To reproduce: 1. sudo aptitude install kwrite 2. Browse to an SMB share that's password protected 3. Right click a text file stored on the SMB share 4. Choose Open With -> Kwrite KWrite will give you an access denied error. I believe the problem is that although Nautilus knows the users' password for the SMB share, this only gets to communicated to gnome apps. A possible solution would be having nautilus include the username/pass to use in the url, e.g. smb://jake:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/jakesfolder/. ** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Nautilus can't open files from passworded SMB shares using KDE apps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112231 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
