Public bug reported: Hi all,
I hope that this bug won't be already opened. I concern the support of the Firewire. Until, Lucid it was working okay and it was the 'old' driver i.e dv1394 and raw1394 modules. They have been replaced by the new driver named JuJu (like you can see the specification here : https://ieee1394.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Juju_Migration) partielly on Marverick and totally on Natty and following. But this module doesn't work. I tested it on three computers on three Ubuntu 11.04 (two Natty and one Kubuntu) all in 64 bits. Strangely, when I look if the module fireware is loaded, it seems to miss one module. Anyway, there are none repertory fw* and following.... See what I obtain in console : olivier@navi:~$ lsmod | grep firewire firewire_ohci 40370 0 firewire_core 62646 1 firewire_ohci crc_itu_t 12707 1 firewire_core I have too an AV LInux 5.0 (derivated multimedia Debian) on the same computer which have too this new driver and I have been surprised that the firewire support was working out-of-box. You can see on the above command a different result. I put you too a part of the output of Dmesg on this multimedia computer, the same command on the AV Linux 5.0 and my camcorder is working with Dvgrab. 2.102760] ata4.00: ATAPI: Optiarc DVD RW AD-5240S, 1.02, max UDMA/100 [ 2.108718] ata4.00: configured for UDMA/100 [ 2.117584] usb 1-1.3: New USB device found, idVendor=07d1, idProduct=f101 [ 2.117591] usb 1-1.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 [ 2.117595] usb 1-1.3: Product: D-Link DBT-122 [ 2.117598] usb 1-1.3: Manufacturer: Broadcom Corp [ 2.124787] ata3.00: ATAPI: HL-DT-STDVD-ROM DH16NS10, 0L04, max UDMA/100 [ 2.125013] ata3.01: ATA-8: WDC WD20EARS-00MVWB0, 51.0AB51, max UDMA/133 [ 2.125018] ata3.01: 3907029168 sectors, multi 16: LBA48 NCQ (depth 0/32) [ 2.130788] ata3.00: configured for UDMA/100 [ 2.150090] ata3.01: configured for UDMA/133 [ 2.153793] scsi 2:0:0:0: CD-ROM HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM DH16NS10 0L04 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 [ 2.154080] scsi 2:0:1:0: Direct-Access ATA WDC WD20EARS-00M 51.0 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 [ 2.155921] scsi 3:0:0:0: CD-ROM Optiarc DVD RW AD-5240S 1.02 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 [ 2.159984] ahci 0000:06:00.0: version 3.0 [ 2.159993] ahci 0000:06:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 19 (level, low) -> IRQ 19 [ 2.162183] firewire_ohci 0000:05:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 18 [ 2.162189] firewire_ohci 0000:05:00.0: setting latency timer to 64 [ 2.168766] sd 2:0:1:0: [sda] 3907029168 512-byte logical blocks: (2.00 TB/1.81 TiB) [ 2.168816] sd 2:0:1:0: [sda] Write Protect is off [ 2.168819] sd 2:0:1:0: [sda] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 [ 2.168832] sd 2:0:1:0: [sda] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA [ 2.170531] ahci 0000:06:00.0: AHCI 0001.0000 32 slots 2 ports 3 Gbps 0x3 impl SATA mode [ 2.170534] ahci 0000:06:00.0: flags: 64bit ncq pm led clo pmp pio slum part [ 2.170540] ahci 0000:06:00.0: setting latency timer to 64 [ 2.170863] scsi6 : ahci [ 2.170981] scsi7 : ahci [ 2.171041] ata7: SATA max UDMA/133 abar m8192@0xfbffe000 port 0xfbffe100 irq 19 [ 2.171045] ata8: SATA max UDMA/133 abar m8192@0xfbffe000 port 0xfbffe180 irq 19 [ 2.176848] sr 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 5 [ 2.176872] sd 2:0:1:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0 [ 2.176893] scsi 3:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 5 [ 2.191005] usb 1-1.5: new high speed USB device number 4 using ehci_hcd [ 2.193496] sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 52x/52x cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray [ 2.193501] cdrom: Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20 [ 2.193615] sr 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0 [ 2.195946] sr1: scsi3-mmc drive: 48x/48x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray [ 2.196136] sr 3:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr1 [ 2.214819] firewire_ohci: Added fw-ohci device 0000:05:00.0, OHCI v1.10, 4 IR + 8 IT contexts, quirks 0x11 [ 2.250580] sda: sda1 sda2 sda3 sda4 < sda5 sda6 > [ 2.255825] sd 2:0:1:0: [sda] Attached SCSI disk [ 2.281961] usb 1-1.5: New USB device found, idVendor=07ca, idProduct=850a [ 2.281964] usb 1-1.5: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 [ 2.281966] usb 1-1.5: Product: A850 DVBT [ 2.281967] usb 1-1.5: Manufacturer: AVerMedia [ 2.281969] usb 1-1.5: SerialNumber: 302122400367000 [ 2.355766] usb 2-1.1: new low speed USB device number 3 using ehci_hcd [ 2.475597] ata8: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) [ 2.475639] ata7: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) [ 2.715505] firewire_core: created device fw0: GUID 0010dc00019611f3, S400 [ 3.280527] device-mapper: uevent: version 1.0.3 [ 3.280581] device-mapper: ioctl: 4.20.0-ioctl (2011-02-02) initialised: [email protected] [ 3.612413] usb 2-1.1: New USB device found, idVendor=0463, idProduct=ffff [ 3.612420] usb 2-1.1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=4 [ 3.612424] usb 2-1.1: Product: ELLIPSE [ 3.612427] usb 2-1.1: Manufacturer: MGE UPS SYSTEMS [ 3.612431] usb 2-1.1: SerialNumber: 000000000 [ 3.624091] EXT4-fs (sda3): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
