Public bug reported:

[Feisty]

I have a laptop with Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High
Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)

There is a kernel module to support this card named snd-hda-intel

After installing kubuntu I got alsa to detect a sound card; which, well, makes
(proper) sound. But the module was never loaded. And the mixer interface is
totally bogus.
For example; I have just 4 controllers. And the main volume doesn't do
anything. Altering the 'line1' actually makes the main volume change.

I did a 'modprobe' and even put the module name in /etc/modules
but for some reason also stays with the card it found previously. I'm annoyed
that there is no such thing as 'alsaconf' anymore, so I'm stuck.

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
