well does any one have any advice?
i did a memtest and everything was fine
i checked for a virus - none detected.
i get no beep warning from the bios
the /dev/sdb device doesn't appear in gparted only disk utility/udisks
i couldn't reformat the ruined usbs on windows or mac bc they were corrupted
and unsalvagable
lilo stopped working in windows until i went into safe mode and restored a
previous version of windows
i still cant make a live usb on the machine with the nonexistent device
does anyone have any idea what i can do?

i installed the os too many times over the last weekend and now realize
i hadn't reinstalled compiz when i said there was no compiz. but gparted
was installed and is installed and is working wonkily.
