Hmm. The second part (network card always selected as default) might be
a duplicate of bug 843780. The non-detect part is somewhat trickier. Is
there perhaps any information in syslog (please attach output of "grep
pulseaudio /var/log/syslog" ) that can indicate what's going wrong?
