The problem is the lines:
** (telepathy-gabble:17804): DEBUG: connection_ssl_cb: called: The certificate
can not be trusted.
** (telepathy-gabble:17804): DEBUG: connection_ssl_cb: called: The certificate
has expired.
** (telepathy-gabble:17804): DEBUG: connection_ssl_cb: called: The server
doesn't provide a certificate.
** (telepathy-gabble:17804): DEBUG: connection_ssl_cb: called: The server
hostname doesn't match the one in the certificate.
The server's ssl certificate is not accepted.
There is a parameter for Gabble called "ignore-ssl-errors" which will solve
your problem, but I dont't think it can be set from within Gossip's UI.
Alternatively, you could connect without SSL?
