** Description changed: Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit and 10.04 64bit and several 64 bit kernels form the mainline package, for example: 2.6.33; 2.6.35; 2.6.36 Desktop Acer Aspire M5201: 2x 640 HD; 8 Gig ram; Radeon HD 4850; Lan Marvell 88E8071 PCI-E Gigabit; Wlan RTL-8185 (rev 20): After installation all worked fine, reboot too. After some boots and updates it happend each time when I tried to reboot: bios hung after reboot Ubuntu (9.10 64bit; 10.04 64bit). I tried several kernels also from the mainline package with the same result; I tried several boot-options and a bios-update without result. By looking for errors in dmesg and logs, I found: <acer-wmi: No or unsupported WMI interface, unable to load> I resolved the problem by creating a file: blacklist-acer-wmi.conf in /etc/modprobe.d and wrote blacklist acer-wmi into the file. Now the reboot works. (suspend to ram and suspend to disk, too) + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. + Architecture: amd64 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USER PID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC2: johannes 1852 F.... pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC0: johannes 1852 F.... pulseaudio + CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'SB'/'HDA ATI SB at 0xfe5f4000 irq 16' + Mixer name : 'Realtek ALC1200' + Components : 'HDA:10ec0888,1025014e,00100101' + Controls : 35 + Simple ctrls : 20 + Card1.Amixer.info: + Card hw:1 'HDMI'/'HDA ATI HDMI at 0xfe8ec000 irq 19' + Mixer name : 'ATI R6xx HDMI' + Components : 'HDA:1002aa01,00aa0100,00100100' + Controls : 4 + Simple ctrls : 1 + Card1.Amixer.values: + Simple mixer control 'IEC958',0 + Capabilities: pswitch pswitch-joined penum + Playback channels: Mono + Mono: Playback [off] + Card2.Amixer.info: + Card hw:2 'SAA7134'/'saa7133[0] at 0xfebff800 irq 20' + Mixer name : 'SAA7134 Mixer' + Components : '' + Controls : 6 + Simple ctrls : 3 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=e3768239-46ff-4d17-96d6-c1322c8bb48e + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release amd64 (20100816.1) + MachineType: Acer Aspire M5201 + NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-33-generic root=UUID=2d41b5ae-e6e1-4763-85e8-44f518deccd3 ro noplymouth + ProcEnviron: + PATH=(custom, no user) + LANG=de_DE.utf8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-33.72-generic 2.6.32.41+drm33.18 + Regression: No + RelatedPackageVersions: linux-firmware 1.34.7 + Reproducible: Yes + RfKill: + 0: phy0: Wireless LAN + Soft blocked: no + Hard blocked: no + Tags: lucid kconfig needs-upstream-testing + Uname: Linux 2.6.32-33-generic x86_64 + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare + dmi.bios.date: 06/04/2009 + dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. + dmi.bios.version: R01-C0 + dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. + dmi.board.name: RS780HVF + dmi.board.vendor: Acer + dmi.chassis.type: 3 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Acer + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvrR01-C0:bd06/04/2009:svnAcer:pnAspireM5201:pvr:rvnAcer:rnRS780HVF:rvr:cvnAcer:ct3:cvr: + dmi.product.name: Aspire M5201 + dmi.sys.vendor: Acer ** Attachment added: "AlsaDevices.txt" https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/692690/+attachment/2421858/+files/AlsaDevices.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/692690 Title: bios hangs after reboot Ubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/692690/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
