I contacted the upstream author about this issue. Here's what he had to say:
1st: if GS causes an error CUPS-PDF is supposed to quit without an error. The reason is the following: CUPS-PDF shows to CUPS only whether the backend interface is working or not. What is going on within the backend (i.e. CUPS-PDF) is shown in cups-pdf_log. This is also to avoid the virtual printer from being auto-disabled. 2nd: CUPS-PDF does not save any page at all - this is done exclusively by GS. 3rd: though I did not aim at that behaviour I do not object at all to CUPS-PDF honoring DRM-settings. While not being a fan of DRM myself (in fact, I really dislike it) I am in no way planning to make CUPS-PDF a tool for circumventing DRM policies. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/854753 Title: Cannot print Adobe DRM files into pdf using cups To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups-pdf/+bug/854753/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
