Binary package hint: synaptic
I know there are some older somewhat related bugs, but I decided to
submit this separately as a feature request.
When uninstalling a package that will orphan dependencies, Synaptic
doesn't warn the user that installed packages will be left behind. I
agree that automatically removing them would be risky, but I think a
message box would be good. Something like: "Removing packagename has
left behind packages that may no longer be needed. Would you like to
see a list of packages that can be safely removed? [yes/no]" Clicking
"yes" would take the user to the Status->Installed (auto removable) list
of packages. Right now, it is not immediately clear that such a list
exists or how to access it.
