Fix was easy for me ... I was missing the file /usr/lib/i386-linux-
gnu/libnss3.so which should be included in the package libnss3, but
somehow got lost. I noticed because empathy would not start at all,
while pidgin starts but does not do any SSL.
Reinstalling libnss3 fixed it.
