Ethan: See the following link for information about installing mainline
(i.e. upstream) builds. It looks like it's behind upstream right now,
probably because of kernel.org being down, but you can start with the
newest thing available (v3.1-rc4 from the looks of it).

If you suspect wireless, you could try running with the iwlagn module
removed for a while (sudo modprobe -r iwlagn) and see if the lockups go
away as well. Of course you won't have wireless...
