Ok, some more info. I found that I could not uninstall VMWare Player in my old 32-33 kernel today (I was installing Workstation 8 so I could also get Player 4). I also could not unload the running modules in this kernel which leads me to believe that the bug was introduced before the -34 kernel.
I was able to manually remove the relevant VMWare files and then successfully install Workstation 8/Player 4 and Player 4 runs ok with the -34 kernel. I will have to wait for a new kernel release to see if Player 4 will compile with the new headers, but I'm not sure that this bug is now attached to the right kernel version. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/829842 Title: VMware Player cannot compile to use new kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/829842/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
