Ok, some more info.

I found that I could not uninstall VMWare Player in my old 32-33 kernel
today (I was installing Workstation 8 so I could also get Player 4). I
also could not unload the running modules in this kernel which leads me
to believe that the bug was introduced before the -34 kernel.

I was able to manually remove the relevant VMWare files and then
successfully install Workstation 8/Player 4 and Player 4 runs ok with
the -34 kernel.

I will have to wait for a new kernel release to see if Player 4 will
compile with the new headers, but I'm not sure that this bug is now
attached to the right kernel version.
