Can you please follow the instructions on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems, especially also the
sections "CUPS error_log" and "Capturing print job data"?
Can you also bott from a live CD of Oneiric and try to print from there
to see whether the problem went away in Oneiric (you do not need to
install the drivers from HP there, the newest version is already
included).
