Can you follow the instructions in the sections "CUPS error_log" and
"Capturing print job data" of
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems? Can you also attach
the file which you wanted to print? Can you do all updates (so that you
get ghostscript 9.04~dfsg-0ubuntu10) and try again? Perhaps then it will
work.
