Despite that I have had no support from the community about it, I discovered that it is not a bug of the microphone itself, but only a malfunction of the sound configuration form. The problem is that in the "Sound Preferences" window, the field "Conector" is not working. I got around this problem as follows: In a terminal window I typed "gnome- alsamixer". Then in the window that opens, I just check the "IntMic" box. I hope that it works for you too, good luck!
