Indeed, Shotwell imports the JPEGs as well as RW2 files into its database. However, deleting pictures from Shotwell's trash only concerns JPEG files NOT RW2 files. The raw files remain on my hard-disk and re-opening Shotwell causes a file System scan and the pictures are again included in Shotwell.
