Public bug reported:
When I boot up the computer, it beeps unless I hold control as it's
initially booting. If I don't, I have to press control+alt+f12 to get to
the boot screen, at which point I have to choose whether I'm booting
Vista or Ubuntu (because I'm dual-booting). I choose Ubuntu, and receive
one of two screens: either a screen that repeatedly says it's loading
various plugins, or a screen that repeatedly says [[5. Typically, I have
to shut off the computer once, restart it, and then it will show a
message with "press f1 to resume" at the bottom after choosing to boot
Ubuntu. At that point, I press control+alt+f12 as it shows me the
repeated [[5, and then it stops, I press control+alt+T a couple of
times, and then I type in "start" and hit enter, and after a few
minutes, it boots. However, one thing that was off I noticed in one of
the boot screens was that in the repeated messages about loading plugins
and similar messages, one message is "automatically send crash report
[fail]". So this is the only thing that technically appears to be wrong,
aside from the terrible bugginess I shouldn't be experiencing with the
associated issues. I am using Ubuntu 11.04 with Unity desktop.
Obviously, I expected the system to boot normally and it doesn't. I am
unsure about the actual package that is causing the issue, though it
would seem it's a kernel issue. It's a weird bug altogether.
