** Description changed: Hello, Ubuntu 11.10 32bit (beta) on HP 6730b laptop. Updated every morning. I leave my laptop running on my desk all day, and the past 3 days after I have come back to it from some short time away (having had the screen locked) the computer has gone into standby. It is plugged in (very rarely gets unplugged) Upon turning it back on, it shows a new battery in the power manager, with a status of 'not present'. This in turn seems to make the system think it is critically low on power, hence the standby. $ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state present: no $ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: charged present rate: 0 mA remaining capacity: 4682 mAh present voltage: 12469 mV The new battery BAT1 does not show in upower, which makes this bug differ somewhat to the similar one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/852406 $ upower -d Device: /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/line_power_AC native-path: /sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/device:00/ACPI0003:00/power_supply/AC power supply: yes updated: Wed Sep 28 08:13:31 2011 (9991 seconds ago) has history: no has statistics: no line-power online: yes Device: /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/mouse_6_2 native-path: /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb6/6-2 vendor: Logitech, Inc. model: MX1000 Laser Mouse power supply: no updated: Wed Sep 28 10:59:34 2011 (28 seconds ago) has history: yes has statistics: no mouse present: yes rechargeable: yes state: discharging percentage: 71.4286% Device: /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0 native-path: /sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/device:00/PNP0C0A:00/power_supply/BAT0 vendor: Hewlett-Packard model: Primary serial: 05002 2010/02/26 power supply: yes updated: Wed Sep 28 10:59:38 2011 (24 seconds ago) has history: yes has statistics: yes battery present: yes rechargeable: yes state: fully-charged energy: 50.5656 Wh energy-empty: 0 Wh energy-full: 51.7644 Wh energy-full-design: 55.08 Wh energy-rate: 0 W voltage: 12.469 V percentage: 97.6841% capacity: 93.9804% technology: lithium-ion Daemon: daemon-version: 0.9.13 can-suspend: yes can-hibernate yes on-battery: no on-low-battery: no lid-is-closed: no lid-is-present: yes is-docked: yes Obviously only a beta, but if it helps to clear it up before release.... $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu oneiric (development branch) Release: 11.10 Cheers, Sam. + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24. + AplayDevices: + **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** + card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: AD198x Analog [AD198x Analog] + Subdevices: 1/1 + Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 + ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu1 + Architecture: i386 + ArecordDevices: + **** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices **** + card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: AD198x Analog [AD198x Analog] + Subdevices: 2/2 + Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 + Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USER PID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: srigelsford 3688 F.... pulseaudio + CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'Intel'/'HDA Intel at 0xd8900000 irq 48' + Mixer name : 'Analog Devices AD1984A' + Components : 'HDA:11d4194a,103c30e6,00100400 HDA:11c11040,103c1378,00100200' + Controls : 18 + Simple ctrls : 11 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=88d9b666-a2f8-4e16-b997-b290ed6fcab8 + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Beta i386 (20110907) + MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq 6730b (NN204ET#ABU) + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-3.0.0-12-generic root=/dev/mapper/hostname-root ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.19-generic 3.0.4 + RelatedPackageVersions: + linux-restricted-modules-3.0.0-12-generic N/A + linux-backports-modules-3.0.0-12-generic N/A + linux-firmware 1.60 + Tags: oneiric running-unity + Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic i686 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oneiric on 2011-09-12 (16 days ago) + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare + dmi.bios.date: 12/08/2009 + dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.bios.version: 68PDD Ver.
