There are certainly lots of people that would like this, myself included, for the exact same reasons as the ones mentioned here (with the current design, it's very difficult to switch to a different window (chat, documentation) temporarily, then switch back to the original one).
Unfortunately, the designers do not seem to agree to this decision for opaque "design reasons".
