Note that if the printer was turned on only after booting that then the printer model cannot be auto-detected by most printer setup tools, as the real printer auto-detection happens when the kernel modules are loaded. Only printerdrake reloads the kernel modules when starting its add printer wizard. printerdrake is planned to be the printer setup tool of Gutsy. See
