** Description changed: i'm running Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit. If i don't power off system in about a day ethernet often stops working. NetworkManager thinks it works, and turning network off/on with NetworkManager applet gives no effect. Running "sudo ifconfig eth0 down" and "sudo ifconfig eth0 up" bring ethernet back to life. That's what i found in /var/log/kern.log just after such incident: Sep 27 00:22:46 cyprus kernel: [336864.632702] device eth0 entered promiscuous mode Sep 27 00:23:34 cyprus kernel: [336912.396293] device eth0 left promiscuous mode Sep 27 00:23:34 cyprus kernel: [336912.403744] device eth0 entered promiscuous mode Sep 27 00:43:36 cyprus kernel: [338114.824060] device eth0 left promiscuous mode Sep 27 01:23:22 cyprus kernel: [340501.060039] ------------[ cut here ]------------ Sep 27 01:23:22 cyprus kernel: [340501.060071] WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.38/net/sched/sch_generic.c:256 dev_watchdog+0x2a0/0x2b0() Sep 27 01:23:22 cyprus kernel: [340501.060077] Hardware name: 662M03 Sep 27 01:23:22 cyprus kernel: [340501.060080] NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0 (sis190): transmit queue 0 timed out Sep 27 01:23:22 cyprus kernel: [340501.060084] Modules linked in: nls_utf8 isofs vboxnetadp vboxnetflt vboxdrv nls_iso8859_1 nls_cp437 vfat fat usb_storage uas rfcomm sco bnep l2cap binfmt_misc snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_hda_intel snd_hda_codec snd_hwdep snd_pcm snd_seq_midi snd_rawmidi radeon snd_seq_midi_event snd_seq snd_timer snd_seq_device ppdev btusb snd bluetooth ttm soundcore drm_kms_helper drm snd_page_alloc i2c_algo_bit sis_agp parport_pc lp parport usbhid firewire_ohci firewire_core hid crc_itu_t sis190 sata_sis Sep 27 01:23:22 cyprus kernel: [340501.060168] Pid: 4798, comm: SignalSender Not tainted 2.6.38-11-generic #50-Ubuntu Sep 27 01:23:22 cyprus kernel: [340501.060173] Call Trace: Sep 27 01:23:22 cyprus kernel: [340501.060177] <IRQ> [<ffffffff81065cbf>] ?
